"Map" a non-network, but external drive in XP

I have a couple of external hard drives (USB, Firewire, etc)
Depending on the order I turn them on, and considering that I
sometimes will plug in a card reader (or other devices) I find that
more often than not, the drives map differently each time I turn them
on.
Is there a way for XP to reserve a drive letter for a specific piece
of hardware?
