Hi, I am working on a network that someone else created
before me. the machine with the data on it (the server)
is running win 2k, the remote PC is running windows XP.
I have mapped the drive of the data we are sharing to the
windows XP machine, but everytime I reboot the windows
xp, the drive fails to recconect because a user name and
password is needed to reconnect, so when I do reconnect
the drive manually by entering in the Username and
Password, everything works fine. What I want to do is
for the XP machine to boot to windows and reconnect the
mapped drive without having to enter in the logon name
and password. Is there a way to change the behavior of
the windows 2000 sharing feature to allow this? I know I
have seen it before. Thanks.

How about...
A group policy -- Machine on/off settings...
Or, a scheduled task that runs on system startup, and run it with the
credentials you need.

How do you go about creating the group policy, and are we
talking for windows 200 PC, or windows XP PC?

create a username / password on the target machine that is the same username
/ password on your machine

Just delete the Mapping, then recreate it, when you recreate it remember to
check the checkbox that says Reconnect at Logon".

Hmmm......Now that I took a moment to think about that,...that would
propably just create naming conflicts.
