Many More Bytes with SP2

Amazingly, there are only two XPE Group Google hits for "SP2 Bloat". My
image was 84 MB, now 120 with SP2. My question is whether it is worth
trying to pare it down, or is everything just bigger and better? Mine is
Minlogon with TCP/IP, MFC and not a whole lot more.

In XP-Pro the biggest footprint offender is probably the firewall, when
you add networking to your config you get the firewall and all its
dependencies by default. I think the documentation or the release notes
tell you which component exposes the configui to disable this firewall
dependency before running check dependencies (assuming you don't want
the firewall, i recommend leaving it there for security).

I added the Core Networking Component, then went in and turned off Firewall
and my SP2 Image is still much larger than my SP1 Image. I don't know what
else to trim out. I think it has a lot to do with the XP SP2 Files and
DLL's and such. I was at 90 megs and now almost 130 megs. Something
somewhere added some bloat.

Hi, I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I've been intersted in
switching to SP2 and I've read that the image size gets much bigger so I've
avoided it since I have no use for firewall in my devices. Does using the
feature pack 2007 eliminate this bloat?

Firewall aside, is there any benefit to the XPE SP2 over SP1? I should
mention that our embedded devices use networking, but do not connect to the
Internet.

Thanks
