Hello All,

First I realize this is a freeware news group. My question pertains to
Outlook Express which comes with Windows so essentially it is free. Or I'm
also looking for an alternate software, please see my question below.

I have a question about multiple email addresses. Is there a way to set up
my address book so that when I compose a message to a particular person that
it gets sent by a specific email address.
Essentially I have a business and when emailing some people I would like to
have the email sent by my work address. And when emailing friends I would
like to have them sent by my personal address.

Is this possible with Outlook Express 6.0? If not is there an email program
that will allow this?

Thanks
Brian

I believe you can do that by creating a new identity. Go to the main
Outlook Express window and look for the Identities drop down menu on the
right.

I do it all the time (three different addys). You should have a
different Mail account for each email address. The default address on
your machine will always be the, well... *default* sending
account/address, but you will have a dropdown list at the top of the
screen to change the account/address you are sending from.

Alternatively, you could set up a separate Identity, but then you'd need
to be switching back and forth. Unless you want to keep a fully separate
OE with different folder structure and whatnot, I'd just go with the
separate accounts.

Thanks for the ideas, I appreciate it.

I believe you can also compose something like a template by starting an
email to someone and choosing the relevant address. Then save it to
your desktop as an eml file [or somewhere] and just double click on it
when you want to compose an email to that person.

Personally, I have switched to Courier, that allows you to set up a menu
of templates similar to the above. It can also do proper blind copies
[that is there is nothing in the headers indicating who you have blind
copied to].
