Manual/Repair on "HP" Computer

Hi:
I've been trying to take off a cover/back of HP, hp pavillion 533w.

However, there are many screws on its back, ... then I do not like
to take off wrong screws. It's quite challenge for a newbie like me,
but I've been determining to fix aged 'fan' inside the computer.

My question is;
How am I obatin a manual/Repair on HP pavillion 533w?

Because, I e-mailed HP, but they gave me only HP Repair Shop
nearby my home, ... without any insturction as to 'Repair Manual.'

Thanks for your help in advance.

I don't find a downloadable manual at www.hp.com. However, there is a FAQ
that shows how to replace the video card:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...roduct=90862&lang=en&cc=us&docname=c00007413#

(link may wrap). The pictures and instructions are generic, but it appears
that the 533w has a standard sheet metal side panel. (Facing the rear of the
PC, the panel to be removed is the one on the right. It's held on with two
Philips screws.)

Good luck.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

I would first look for a thumb screw in the back of the case. Some of
the HPs used this method of securing the case. Others had a bracket
around the card slots that needs to be removed.

In addition to what the others have said, sometimes a computer case
will have a locking lever on the back that you have to press down in
order to remove the side panel.

Good luck

Each case is different in method of opening, so no help there (my HP was a
push and shove and lift the side cover deal with no screws at all) but once
you do get it open, you can Google the p/n's on the fan(s) and find an
equivalent (I had no luck finding any real numbers through HP either).

I ultimately took the fans along with me to CompUSA to make sure they
matched up in size and rating and replaced them with no problems.

Hi:
Thanks all:

My computer is 'tower' about 16 inches High x 7.5 inches width x 15 inches
depth.
The color is 'black and silver' and 'hp' in the middle of front panel.

There are 'two' big screws on the right side and two smaller screws on the
left side of the cover.
Also, two small screws on the top and bottom and several more screws in the
middle part.

Then, probably I need to 'Push and Shove' to open after taking off those
'visible screws.'
So far, no luck tho'.

It's quite nerve-wacking and tedious job for a newbie like me, ... but since
I owe two more HPs, I want
to know both 'in and out,' even it might take me a lot of time and mental
energy to do.

Any other suggestion and feedbacks on this would be really appreciated.

I have two HP cases and they both open differently. You might have the
kind my daughter has. It has about four screws (two or three on each side)
on the back. When those are out the whole case minus the front and back
(top, right side and left side are one piece) lifts off. You have to pull
it towards the rear to release it as the front of it slides under a lip at
the front.
