I'm at my wits ends with my hp photosmart 7550 trying to print manual
duplexed booklets for my nephews. I use fineprint to manage my
duplexing (which works great btw) first side goes without a problem
but when i print the other side.. somehow it ends up feeding 3,4,10
sheets at time. I've cleaned the rollers, used different brands of
paper.. nothing works.. out of 500 sheets of paper i threw out about
300 sheets. I'm just wondering what makes the first side so special
that it doesn't misfeed. not once has it misfed on the first side.
**perplexed**
one thing that i notice is that when i open up the back of the printer
I notice out of the 5 rollers only 3 have rubber on them. The other 2
are just plastic. Maybe this is normal, dunno.. but if you have the
same printer, can you check?

also... are there any brands of inkjet printers that are known to have
exceptional feeding mechanisms?

What weight paper are you using? I have no problem with 20, 22, 24, 26 and
28lb paper. I have the Photosmart 7350, and it's been an excellent printer.

I use standard 20lb paper. The cheaper $3 office depot brand copier
paper seems to run better than the $7 24lb HP inkjet paper for some
reason. Of course print quality is worse but for the prints i'm doing
it didn't matter much. Also running the printer at the fastest speed
was also better at preventing feed errors. Other than that I agree the
printer is pretty good..

I might try reinstalling the fineprint in case there is a corrupt file
problem.

It's just possible that the paper is so damp that it's sticking
together and the seperator is not able to handle the job. I gave up
manually duplexing with my old LJ-III as it frequently failed to pick
a page or jammed, bought myself a printer with builtin duplexing. I
beleive that the 7550 series can take the duplexer option that's
available for other models as standard, this may be an option.

This is normal, this is only the paper feed roller not the platten.

don't bother me with insignificiant nonsence such as spelling,
I don't care if it spelt properly
