Manual adding querys to reports

I have a query that prompts the user for a record number
and then displays a bunch of information. I want to
insert this query into a report and have each field go to
a specific place on the report. That way I can add the
window dressing into the report. Stuff like the header
and contact info and stuff like that. And I can also
format it out onto two pages. How do I get the report to
on open prompt me for the record number?

If you use the same query as the data source for your
report, you will be prompted the same way as you described
below.
