Hi, I've got some outlining software on a companion CD
and it always runs in full-screen mode, which is really annoying.
It even blocks always on top programs.

I used a program I wrote to send it messages to make it get out
of full-screen mode and into a normal window. Usually works
but this time it didn't.

Others in the class have told me that the software runs in
a window for them. I can't understand why it won't for me.
Any ideas for possible utilities that can help?

This trick will work with any dos mode program.

Drag/create a shortcut ffrom wherever the offending program resides
to your favorite starting place, desktop/start menu, then do the
right-click>select properties thing to bring up a properties sheet
where you can make a dos program do lots of neat tricks.

From the program tab you can select what kind of window it starts in,
what the starting directory is ('Documents' for example) and have it run
a batch file when it starts.

The tab you're going to address is the "screen" tab where you select
the "Window" radio button under "usage".

Millage may vary with various flavors of Windows.

Enjoy

It isn't a DOS application.

A shortcut will still give the option of starting in Mazimised, Minimized,
or Normal Window
Else the answer may reside in the program's options or preferences settings.
