Mandriva today is proud to release its brand new distribution:

The key innovation of Mandriva Linux 2007 is the spectacular AIGLX and
Xgl 3D-accelerated desktop. Mandriva is the only distribution to
provide both technologies and is particularly happy to have achieved
this major breakthrough in desktop appearance. In addition, a new
theme named Ia Ora ("hello" in French Polynesian) has been introduced.

Mandriva developed Invictus Firewall - this feature is available in

latest innovations in the fields of office suite applications,
Internet, multimedia and the new virtualization and 3D-accelerated
desktop technologies. You can:

* Play video games with TransGaming's Cedega;
* Discover FlatOut, the famous car racing game;
* Enjoy 6 months of anti-virus protection with Kaspersky;
* Benefit from the powerful BitDefender;
* Run and manage any virtual machine with VMware Player, an
integrated system virtualization solution.

Moreover, Mandriva Linux 2007 users can make unlimited voice calls for
free with Skype, import, manage and play music with amaroK or Banshee,
easily install, uninstall and update software with a new integrated
version of the rpmdrake software management tool, and preserve files

That sounds fantastic and just what i have been waiting for Muck's....Nice post..:)

Hello,

We is up-n-running ... :D

I "see" Ian still has some work to do on the forums regarding Fonts & Layout when using Linux & Firefox ... but there again, I really probably need to install the nVidia drivers for my card. :p this FX 5600 is really an oddball. :D

And I'll have to do something with this 'default' colour theme to ... orange and blue do not mix, Mandriva please take notes here. ;)

Anybody who wishes to try a copy of Mandriva Linux 2007, give me a PM and I'll set you right to where you can get a copy ... it's ok, all legal and above board, but you won't find this version in the downloads just yet ... unless you are a "club" member of Mandriva.

See you all later, need to get some milk before I continue ...

Mandriva "2007 Official" FTP install

Jump the queue, be the first one on the net
biggrin.gif

Get the boot.iso: ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/Man...images/boot.iso

Burn the boot.iso to CD and boot from it . . then:

- Press Enter
- At the screen: "Please choose your install method" choose FTP server
- DHCP
- "Please fill entries" I filled in: "uranus" on first line ( name of my system ) and "lan" on second line. ( you can also leave them empty )
- Wait until the connection is made . . .
- Question about proxy: leave blank
- When choosing the sources, tell it that you will select the source yourself "Specify the mirror manually"
- On the first line: "ftp.nluug.nl" and on the second line: "/pub/os/Linux/distr/Mandrakelinux/official/2007.0/i586" and press OK

Then the program will load into memory and proceed to go on as a normal install.

For the install follow the lines of the 2006 install: http://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.ph...=503&st=319

Hmmm nothing in the DVD section shame would like all files together instead of downloading them separate, Thanks Mucks I shall try it one day soon ;)

Ah, good, I didn't really want to install live, call me silly but I like to have me mitts on the DVD :)

I didn't really want to install Bit Torrent either (are there any risks using BT? Can anybody comment?) so I'll try those last links.

Thankee Mr Mucks :)

Edit: None of those links working for me, all the FTP servers want a password. Original links just give me gobbledegook text, I'm assuming they're looking for Bit Torrent.

This is b******s isn't it? :) I'll stick with Suse 10.1 I think, despite all it's quirks :(

oops, sorry but there is no DVDs just yet ... there are CDs I had no trouble with those links ... as I said before BT is fine, a bit slow, but I have never had any bother with it for Linux stuff.

Never mind ... it was only just officially released yesterday. :rolleyes:

I'll stick to the wall. :)
