It seems that i have a virus on my computer... When I
tried to delete the infected file it said it couldn't
delete the file because it's currently running (and I
assume it starts up automatically when windows starts up
because I didnt open it myself).

Well my question is how is it possible to delete
programs from the program start up list. I tried the
system information application but apperantly it's only
able to give information (about the startup list among
otehr things), but not configure it.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Using Windows XP

Hi, DS.
Well my question is how is it possible to delete
programs from the program start up list.

Start | All Programs | Startup. Right-click on the program name and press
Delete.

As a pop-up reminder will tell you, this probably deletes only the Shortcut
to the program, leaving the actual program in place. To get rid of the
program, you will need to use the usual methods of running its own Uninstall
program - if it has one - or use Add or Remove Programs.

For a more capable tool, click Start | Run, and type into the Open box:
msconfig This runs msconfig.exe, which allows you to manage both the
Startup menu and other methods of starting programs.

Of course, none of these methods may work, depending on exactly which virus
you caught. You'd better follow the advice of experts like Symantec or
McAfee. And then BE SURE you are running a good antivirus program from now
on!
