Managing spam emails - avoiding web bugs etc

Hello,

I have recently started using Outlook 2k3 and have a couple of questions
about handling spam emails.

I know you can just right-click on the Junk folder and delete all the
messages inside. But, I like to at least preview the message list in the Junk
folder before deleting everything, so that I can make sure that messages I
want aren't being misdirected there and deleted by mistake.

I know that often, just opening a spam email will activate an invisible "web
bug" in web-based email that alerts the spammer that you've opened their
message, and then they send you even more of their crap.

My questions:
1. Is it possible, when previewing a message list in Outlook, to click
on/select individual messages in the list to delete them, but NOT open them
in the preview pane when you click on/select them?

2. Does opening a message in Outlook activate a web bug just like opening
the same message from a web-based email inbox would? I suspect it does only
because after "opening" (by clicking on it in the message list) one spam, I'm
now getting at least 8 to 10 messages per day from what looks like the same
spammer.

Outlook 2K3 doesn't load web bugs by default. It doesn't download any web
content unless you explicitly tell it to (or unless the sender is on your
safe senders list; in which case their message wouldn't be in the Junk
E-mail folder)
