I am accumulating a lot of old .pst files that have been
backed up over the years. I am thinking, if I ever need
to go find an old email, from several years ago, the only
way I know how to do it would be to re-import the old .pst
file into Outlook. But this would create a big mess, as I
would then have to export the old emails again after I
found the item I was looking for, and then re-import my
current files, etc.

There must be a better way to research old emails stored
in .pst files.

Thanks, Metrov

Indeed. Importing is a bad idea.
While in Outlook, try File > Open to see what is in a PST file.

Wow, Thanks, Russ. I never realized it was that easy.
Just 'open' or 'close' any .pst file.

Thanks, M
