Dr. Indera

Hello,

i have email addresses all over the place and am seeking a way to set them all up in outlook. i
currently have outlook 2000, but don't use it, but plan to upgrade to 2003 when it comes out. so, if
something i want to do isn't available in 2000, but will be in 2003, please let me know and i'll
wait until then to set all of this up.

i have an email account from my dsl provider, which i use netscape reader to access. i also use
newsgroups in this account.
i have another imap email account in outlook express, which has newsgroups that i have to use.
i have an email account for my web site, which i use the web-based reader to access.

i want to open outlook and have the option to select which email account (from above) that i want to
go into.
i need each of the accounts to have their own email folders, rules etc.
i guess as if they were for different people.

also is there a way to customize outlook so that i can add a button/icon in one of these email
accounts to access the newsgroup feature right in outlook, and only have these newsgroups available
for the one email account? that way, should i have a need in the future to need newsgroups in
another email account, i can set them up just for that email account and not have them mingled in
with newsgroups from another email account.

thanks
indera

When you install Outlook 2000 in CW-mode you can use different profiles to
start Outlook with so you can choose with which address/mailbox/rules
Outlook will start.

Outlook isn't a newsreader but it will use Outlook Express for this. You can
configure your toolbar with shortcuts to the different newsgroups. Follow
these instructions;
http://office.microsoft.com/assista...ID=HA010549911033&CTT=6&Origin=EC010553071033

When you assign a hyperlink by using for instance news://news.com. This way
your default newsreader willl be opend with that newsserver.

Hope this helps!

Hi Roady,

Outlook is already installed. Is there a way to tell if it
was installed in CW-mode? What is CW mode.

Yes, I know Outlook isn't a newsreader. I wanted to know
if I could create a button, that when clicked would open
the newsreader in outlook express.

Thanks
Indera

Hi Indera,

You can install Outlook 2000 in different modes depending on what you are
going to do with Outlook.
CW= Corporate Workgroup
IMO= Internet Mail Only

CW-mode is kind of the same as IMO but it will also let you connect to
Exchange and will let you create and manage mailprofiles.

To see your mode in Outlook go to Help-> About Microsoft Outlook-> Security
Info

See the following KB article on how to change modes;
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=195507

Hope this helps!
