Error appears when Norton Internet Security loaded. If removed, error does
not appear. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi frestbilt,
have you disabled the addins in Outlook?
Have you configure you NIS, that port 25 and 110 can get through?

Andreas, thanks for replying. What are the addins in Outlook and why would
one disable them? I do understand what NIS means and what port 25 and 110
mean.

Thanks.

Hi Jim,
so NIS means Norton Internet Security.
Add Ins are in TOOLS OPTION OTHER ADVANCED OPTIONS ADDIN MANAGER
disable the Norton Internet Security by clicking the option. If you dont
have an Add in install, be good.
Outlook needs Ports to send / receive mails.
The Port Numbers are 25 and 110. So you have to configure your NIS so, that
Outlook can send and receive.

Thanks for the help. Will give it a try.

Jim

I am having the same trouble, and I do not have the NIS -- I have N
Anti-Spam. Either way, it's not in the Add-In Manager. How do I get RID RID
RID

Sorry, I hit the "send" accidently. But how do I get rid of this MAPI
add-in? It's messed up my Outlook & Blackberry interface and I can't get any
tech support or help from MAPI. But even though I've uninstalled MAPI from
the computer, I'm still getting messages of it causing a catastrophic failure
of my Outlook.

How do i get rid of MAPI completely. Do I have to reload Outlook? (I'll
gladly do that to get rid of MAPI).

How I solved it (so far) was to create a new profile. Each time I open
Outlook, I am prompted to approve the profile. So far it works without a
problem. Additionally, I disabled my Norton Firewall.

So far so good.

Yes, I can see that would be a work-around, but not really a solution. I'd
still like to find a solution to this problem, or how to completely erase
this horrid MAPI thing from my computer and life.

Bob, I suspect that this is a "Norton/Microsoft" thing. They aren't talking
too well together is my thought. Good luck with a solution.

I use outlook 2003 with BCM. Suddenly I got the following error message while
opening outlook, though I
do not know whether it is only related to outlook or something else:

Quote:
Managed MAPI Service Catastrophic Failure

File or Assembly name Iris.Mapi.MessageStore, or one of its dependencies,
was not found.
Unquote:

Using the detect and repair facility I carried out the "repairing" work, but
still the msg is appearing.

What I was originally doing after which the error msg appeared was, I was
deleting a stored folder" Microsoft Small business" (not the original source
for instalation).

Thanks in advance

Mani

I had the same message appearing from a couple of weeks' ago and tried just
about everything.
However, it has just been fixed when I ran the Repair option on the Business
Manager Contact CD.
I suspect that it might be necessary to run the Repair option on both the
Office CD and the Business Manager- and that only when you've done both can
you be reasonably certain that the MAPI (Mail Application Protocol Interface)
error message problem be resolved. I had re-loaded .NET Framework too earlier
- so it might be a combination of the things I've done (in exasperation I
might add!)

Same set of problems and it may be that a recent update from MS has something
to do with this. I had several failed installations of a Netframework 2.0
service pack KB110806. It still shows as uncertain as to whether it loaded or
not.
I too ran office repair from the disc, business manager repair from the
disk, actually a reinstallation of outlook 2003 and Business contact manager,
and reinstalled Norton. Also a system restore (which was the first thing I
did).
