manage contacts

i am using outlook 2000 and i have many contacts to manage.

i want to be able to group contacts (e.g. clients,suppliers, potential
clients, etc.) and to export both all my contacts and the group they belong
to in excel or access.

i have tried to export my contacts and i do not get the groups. moreover
what are distribution lists and how can i create one? can i work with
contacts from another program or only from the address book?

your help would be higly appreciated!
 
If you have categories assigned to your contacts, you can export that. In
Excel you'd have to group the data yourself.
