malicious spyware removal tool - stupid question

conflicting descriptions in MS information pages - so here's a stupid question.
Are the monthly tools cumulative, or do you have to keep running last
June's, then July, then August, etc. to get full coverage?

If you are referring to the malicious software removal tool, it is
cumulative. The latest version includes detection for all threats that have
ever been added to the tool.

Note that it does not remove spyware.
