Good day all:
I tried to use the Alta Vista search engine and this message popped up:

Are you lookin for a search engine?
If you are seeing this page, it is because you have downloaded a malicious
program that is keeping you from visiting the page you intended. Please
visit the following URL for information on fixing this problem.

I have no idea what happened that I downloaded something malicious, but I'm
hesitant to visit this URL for fear something else would happen. Can you
help a fellow XP'er out?

Thanx

Paul

Go to www.lavasoftusa.com, download, install and run Ad Aware. Also, be
sure your antivirus software is up to date and run a virus scan on your
system.

Tweakxp is a real program and there is a website for it. However, I don't
think I would trust that message either. How did tweakxp.com know what page
you accessed or what your browser was doing?

I just tried www.altavista.com and my browser went right to it.

If you'd like to scan your system for parasites, hijackers or whatnot, try
this page for a quick online checkup:

Please explain. You went to the link, did you download, install and run Ad
Aware? Are you saying you run it and it turned up nothing?

Some follow up for you. The symptoms you have described belong to a very
recently discovered trojan. Details can be found here:
