I was having troubles making my Sony DVD+R/RW drive
capable of writing files to a blank CD. XP's Properties
window does not have a tab for recording, and my CD
writing program cannot recognize the drive. I had a hard
time getting the CD Writing Program (it has 4 updates
each requiring a reboot of the computer) to install on
the computer. Besides the Systen Restote feature from
the Help section, does anyone have a suggestion? I
appreciate your help! Thanks.

Why not just open your wallet and buy modern CD-mastering software, such as
Nero. I've never had a lick of trouble with it. It has always worked right
out of the bat with whatever writer I had in the computer.

Get it here: http://www.ahead.de

Follow Donald's advice! MS has not put into Windows XP the possibility of
writing DVDs. This is also the case writing to CDs with a DVD writer. XP
may be thinking that it is only a DVD-ROM

Besides Nero, there is also Roxio EZ CD/DVD Creator 6.
