Hello.

I have a macro which I've assigned to a button on my toolbar in Excel.
I would like to make an image of my own though, but don't wish to use
the Excel editor to design the button.

I just wondered what format the image would have to be in, and what
sizes, colours, bit rates etc, and what folder I would need to stick
the image to be able to select it from the menu of button images
available in Excel?

Thanks very much for any help

John

Hi John,

The image attributes for a button in Microsoft Excel are 16 by 16 pixels,
16 color. The button images available in Microsoft Excel are embedded in
the application DLL files, and are not exposed as individual files
themselves.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a file format that will expose button
images to the Excel program for selection. Typically, the images are
either pasted directly into the toolbar and the toolbar is saved in an
Excel document for later use, or the images are copied and pasted into an
Excel spreadsheet, where they can then be copied to a toolbar button.

Hope this helps!

May I just add to this prescription that asking Help on "Edit Button" will
produce the instructions. I have used a program as simple as Paint to make
buttons for my own macros.
