Making Outlook default and other problems

I use Office 2000 SP-3. I recently stupidly deleted my admin profile and
although I've reinstalled Outlook from the disc and downloaded latest
updates, I'm still having a bunch of problems with Outlook that I didn't
have before this.

The worst problem I'm having right now is that I can't get email from my
main server and just get message "TCP/IP connection expectedly terminated...
error 0x800ccc0f" This has been all afternoon. I Googled the error message
and tried what was suggested by Symantec site (not letting Norton scan email)
but that didn't work either.

Please help ASAP on above problem because I sent out resumes this morning,
now can't get return messages, if any.

I don't know if the following problems are related, but they've been gone on
ever since I had to reinstall Outlook, but before today, at least I could get
my email.

I have designated Microsoft Outlook as my default email program, and when I
click the mail icon in IE, it opens Outlook, so I assume that's set right,
but when I try to send email through clicking on a link from a web page, I
get the message "The object could not be found."

If I go into Set Program Assets and Defaults, under the Custom tab there,
"Use my current e-mail program" is checked, with AOL and Outlook Express
enabled. Under that configuration, I get the now dreaded message. If I
choose Outlook Express, I can send email that way, but I don't understand why
I can't get it to use Outlook.

The other weird thing it's doing is if I try to open email I've sent to
myself from other addresses (like Yahoo or AOL which I'm clearing out), it
can't open those emails and gives me message "Could not open one or more
attachments."

If you have any other ideas, I'd appreciate hearing. Thanks so much for your
help.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't want to set up AOL with Outlook.
I'm getting rid of AOL soon and will uninstall it completely. Outlook is
currently set up and was working fine until that disaster with deleting my
profile. I'm sure there's just some setting that needs to be adjusted or
something, but I don't know what since reinstalling didn't help.

Thanks for trying. Any other ideas?

Hi MAlia,
if you want to remove AOL,
you have to go into the registry
START
RUN
REGEDIT
SEARCH
"AOL"
and delete all keys there!
But be careful, changes in the registry can making your system instable!

Hi Andreas,

I guess I shouldn't have even mentioned AOL, because my problem really
doesn't concern them at all and I don't need help with that.

My problem is with the error messages I keep getting as outlined below and
how I can configure Outlook properly as my default email server and still be
able to send email from a website, which I can't do now, even though it seems
everything is set up as it should be from everything I've seen.

I guess if I can't get Outlook to work, I'll have to get something else as I
really don't like Outlook Express.

Thanks!
Malia
