making non-recurring appointments

every time I enter an appointment, the calendar enters
the appointment for the day I select and every day back
until the day I entered the appointment. For instance,
if I tried to enter an appointment for Friday, 10/10/03,
the appointment would appear today, tomorrow, Thursday,
and Friday.
I am not selecting "recurring."
Is there a setting somewhere I can fix?
Thanks.

No matter what day I click on to schedule an appointment,
the "start" date/time field comes up as today, and it is
rounded to nearest next 1/2 hr.
Additionally, I tried customizing my views so that the
weekend days are not compressed, and even though I closed
and restarted Outlook, the change in view did not happen.

What version of Outlook are you using?

Are you sure you don't have the shift key pressed when you click on that
other day/time to create an appointment?

O.K., and you're sure you don't have the SHIFT key depressed while you're
clicking on that future date/time to create the appointment?

How, exactly, are you starting the appointment? By double-clicking on the
time that you want the appointment to occur or by clicking File | New or ?

Not touching the shift key. I've tried to create the new
apt. every way: double clicking on the date, double
clicking on the time, going under file menu -->new--
apt., selecting new from the menu bar...all with the
same effect.
Do you have any idea what the problem is? It seems like
there's some setting somewhere that's set incorrectly,
but I've looked and not found anything.

I'm not aware of any setting that will do what you're describing. If you
pick some date several months in the future and click one time one it (in
the Date Navigator) so that the "Day" view clearly shows that date. Then
click one time on a time in the middle of that day so that it is clearly
selected. Then click the New Appointment button on the toolbar does it
still show the start date/time as today?
