I'm trying to make a slideshow with about 1,000 JPEGs and 20 mp3 files. I
need to save it as a mpeg4 file so that my digital photo frame will read it.
Can I do this with wmm version 2? (XP)
Thanks.

Not sure why you need a video clip...can't
the frame read image files from a memory
card?

Also you may want to have a look at the
following article before importing all those
JPEGs and MP3s.

File type compatibility with Movie Maker

1000 pictures? You may be able to create
the project in Movie Maker if you have massive
system resources. And you may have to
create several smaller projects and combine
them after thay are saved in a movie format.

The save options in Movie Maker include
..avi and .wmv.

Thanks for the reply.

The frame can't play the mp3's at the same time as it displays the pictures.
Tech support for the frame suggested making the slideshow as an mpeg4, which
the frame will read.

He specifically said "mpeg4", but I don't know how to save the file with
this extension.

Thanks again.

Ok...thanks for the info. I think it may be
worth a try to create an .avi file with Movie
Maker and see if the frame will recognize
it. You could create a short movie with
just a few pictures as an experiment.

To save as an .avi movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

If the frame can't read dv.avi then I'd use this dv.avi file that you've
made and then use a converter like Super to make your mpeg4 file.
Super is linked to here
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/WebPages/UsefulProgrammes.htm
I wouldn't use jpegs and mp3's as John has already said and I'd make maybe
10 short movies of 100 pics each adn tehn combine those into one long movie
as a dv.avi, then convert that to the mpeg4 file.

Thank you both for the help. I downloaded Super and tried converting an .avi
file to MPEG4. I set the first box to mp4 and the second one to MPEG4. I left
the third box alone. I tried encoding the Movie Maker file (which had been
saved as an .avi with a RealPlayer icon). It seemed to work - the new file
had the extension .avi.mp4 - but my frame still couldn't read it. Did I do
something wrong? Maybe it's a flaw of the frame?
Thanks again.

Sounds like the conversion was successful.

Did you try using the .avi file?

What is the brand name and model # of your frame?

The slideshow played great on the computer.

My frame is a Vuescape 9 inch frame. The item number is 61000115. I don't
see a model number. (The manual is very limited).

It is still not clear to me if you tried
using the .avi file on the frame?

Anyway...I thought I might find some
useful info if I had the name of the
frame but was unsuccessful.

Sorry...I'm not much help.

Yes, I tried both the .avi and the .avi.mp4 files and neither were recognized.
Thanks anyway for the suggestions. I'll try again with the frame's tech
support service.

There is a web address, but it just gives the phone number for tech support.
I called again and was told that maybe the problem is that the frame doesn't
recognize the type of mpeg4 that I'm using. He said that since mpeg4 is
relatively new, there are a few different types (I don't know if this is
right or not?) Anyway, he suggested trying to save it as mpeg1 or mpeg2. I
did this with my ULEAD program with a small number of slides and songs. I
generated an mpeg1 movie and it seems like it worked!. I'll try with bigger
files this weekend.
Thanks again for all your suggestions!

It works! I made a 25 minute slide show with about 300 jpegs and mp3's
playing in the background with ULEAD. The trick was to save it as mpeg1.
