Making formatting stick to word doc letters

Hi,

My boss wants me to create a template for Outlook where
he opens a new letter via the actions menu in the address
book window, which opens up the template dialogue.

None of the formatting I do in any of the tempaltes added
to the dialogue box sticks - everytime I open one, the
font is times new roman, the formatting has gone and so
have any attn: lines. The only thing that stays the same
are the header/footer/logo info.

Any ideas how I can solve this?
