Making DVDs from miniDV file

I am somewhat new to this and need a bit of help.

To the collective wisdom:

I have tried WinDV and WMM2 to capture my miniDV content in AVI format -
works great. (I cannot get Studio 9 to work but that's OK - it crashes when
I try to capture)

Once my content is on my HD, I need to edit it - so should I stick with
WMM2, save it as an AVI - the highest quality I believe - then use MyDVD -
which came with my DVD writer - to burn it to DVD.

It looks to me that Studio has more features for editing than WMM2 - or
maybe it's my imagination...

I guess what I am asking is how do I get a movie that looks as crisp and
clear as when I play from my camcorder to my TV set - can a DVD give me the
same crispness ?

Thanks to all.

Hi there,

The video when it has been put on DVD will be as good as it was prior to
leaving the camera so long as no editing takes place, even after editting,
provided it is done well, will still be very good, it would take a very
sherp eyed person to see the downgrading that one edit does to a section of
video.

Windows Media Player will do most of the basic stuff, and realy that all
you need.

My DVD seems popular, I use Dazzle DVD complete, which is a superb program
