We as a company would like to make a change to the config of Outlook 2003
fopr all our users when we role out Outlook 2003. We would like to make the
reading pane visible across the bottom section of the screen instead of down
the side as is the norm when you first install 2003. IS this possible in GP
or is this a setting that our users will have to change themselves?

Many thanks

Most likely it's a setting you can change using grouppolicy.

If the settings isn't already in the adm-files for Office 2003 you can (if
you find the right registry-key) create your own adm-template.

There are adminstrative Templates for Office 2003, they're included in
the Office Resource Kit. Once you have imported them, you can find
Outlook specific settings in there. Not sure if your particular setting
is there right away..

cheers,
