Hi there. Our company is mostly running Windows 9x, and
we're just starting to bring in XP Pro. We install
software on the XP desktops as administrators, but
sometimes when users log in they can't access those
applications. How can we allow users to log in as
themselves and still access the programs that we
installed as administrators, without assigning them
administrator privileges on the local machine?

Thanks.

That rather depends on the application - some just plain won't behave nicely
on Windows 2000 and Windows XP no matter how much you ask them nicely or hit
them.

You can dig deep to find what rights the program wants and grant these but i
think with some programs you'll end up assigning admin rights in all but
name to get them to run, and some just plain won't want to know even with
this.

A better first stop when you get reluctant programs is to check with the
supplier for hints, patches, updated software that will run with XP. Have
you tried that?
