A many times configured, reconfigured inc backpup does
not perform. I have no problem doing a normal backup, and
even when I alter the same set to make an "in", it
performs fine . . . if I activate it immediately.
I have XP Professional. I don't know what version, but it
came in an IBM machine delivered in early Jan'04, and I'm
backing up to the cd drive which came with it, to RW's.
I have printed out, and followed the "To schedule a
backup" from the relevant Help area.
Hoping someone can be of help-Ian

HOW TO: Use Backup to Back Up Files and Folders on Your Computer in Windows XP

Windows Backup Does Not Back Up to CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R Devices

Windows XP Backup does not have the capability to span multiple CDs
(record from one to another) during a backup operation. When using
Windows XP Backup, the total size of the backup file must not exceed
the formatted capacity of the CD (approximately 533MB). If you need to
backup an entire drive or a system volume exceeding 533 MB, you need
to use a third party backup and restore program designed to span the file
over multiple CDs.

BackUp MyPC is a powerful yet easy to use data protection
and disaster recovery solution for a single computer or
peer-to-peer network. Conveniently backup important files
or your entire computer while you're not even around using
our advanced scheduling system.

You'll can use a third-party CD Recording program, such as Nero,
in order to record and span the to multiple CDs.

To schedule a task, use an account that is in the administrator group and
assign a password to it.
