I have 80 gb hard drive I have vista home premium working fine on it but I
want to create another partition so its 40gb/40gb, I have done this in the
past with partitionMagic and XP but it does not seem to work with Vista, any
ideas?

Right. I just did that with an 80G drive. No need at all for Partition
Magic!

I would've like to see the option to put the free space at the beginning or
the end. I had to shrink my second partition. Make a third partition, put
the data on it, delete the second partition, then expand Partition 1.

Still faster than PM

But do you know of any available partitioning software that works with Vista
similar to Partition Magic? I currently would like to merge two logical
partitions to make space for partition on which Vista is installed.

What about using diskpart from a command line?

Andre:
Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 is supposed to be Vista compatible.
Have a great day.

I'm scared to Restore after reading earlier messages here. But your link
doesn't mention problems, it doesn't even mention Vista that I can see.

Here's plain TrueImage, the trial I downloaded. I've been using earlier
versions for years:
