I got a laptop that has a bios password (that I cannot find any info
on) so I cannot change the boot sequence to "CD-ROM First" to install
XP, or even 2000. Is there a way I can make a boot disk or install a
file on the HDD that will direct the PC to the CD-ROM?

TIA

Ooops. Sorry 'bout that.

BTW - The last time I needed advice on replacing the hydraulic lifters
on my Chevy 350, the guy at Blockbuster was an invaluable source of
information. Y' never know.

I know that the question was inappropriate for this message board, but
you could try (a) to contact the manufacturer to see if there is a
jumper that can be moved to reset the BIOS,(b) remove the CMOS
battery, if there is one, and wait about a week for the power to drain
and replace the battery, or (c) find out from the laptop manufacturer
whose BIOS they use, and contact the BIOS manufacturer to see if they
have a workaround.
