Hi,
I have a redundant PC with basis spec. Can anyone point me to a site or
explain how it can be turned into a file server. I just want to access
it remotely via my home network to store retreive data etc. The problem
i see is it will give errors (post) and operating system if i remove the
keyboard, mouse, monitor etc.
Regards
Martin

'Basis spec': An IBM PC with an 8086 and 640k of RAM ?
Or, might we figure it's something a bit more modern ?

If it's a reasonably modern system the BIOS may allow 'boot through': the
ability to disable checking for a keyboard, mouse, and / or video card.

An option, if your BIOS won't allow those settings, might be to connect an
inexpensive two-port KVM switch to the machine. Sometimes this will 'fool'
the BIOS into acting as though the devices are connected.
