When I put a CD Rom with mixed media on it (some programs, some documents,
some music) I get a message asking how I want WindowsXP to open the device.
What I will always want is for WindowsXP to open this mixture with Windows
Explorer but there doesn't seem to be a tick box that says 'Always Open This
Kind of File in this Way' or something like that.

If I can't do that, is there a way of stopping the message from appearing so
that I can just right click my CD Rom without having to close the message
window first?

Right-click on your CD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer. Choose Properties.
Select the Autoplay tab. In the drop-down list on top of this dialog, select
"Mixed Content". In the Actions section, select the radio button that says
"Select an action to perform". Highlight the selection for "Open folder to
view files using Windows Explorer" and select Apply.
