How can I make a presentation into a self contained .exe
so that it can run anywhere that doesn't have any of the
necessary software (rather than Pack & Go) or insert it
into a webpage. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for.
While there are certain benefits (single-file distributable, no additional
software required to view presentation, etc.), there are disadvantages as
well.

Were there specific problems that you experienced using the built-in
distribution methods and technologies of PowerPoint (Save as MHTML, Package
for CD <ppt 2003>, PowerPoint Viewer 97 or 2003, ??) that you hope to
overcome by distributing an executable instead?

If you (or anyone else reading this message) still think that saving a
presentation as an *.exe is desirable, don't forget to send your feedback

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

Well, I was just curious because I know I received a ppt
presentation as an executable in my email, so I figured it
was possible but I could not find the option for it. If
there is no such option it must be a third party program
that compiled it. It's ok though, I was just trying to do
something but I saved it as HTML and that will suffice.
Thanks.

It's actually an EXE file? Are you sure it's not just a PPS? That will seem
to autoexecute if you have PPT or a PPT Viewer installed on your computer.
An EXE would run/play even if you didn't have PPT or a PPT Viewer.

It was a slideshow file type. It's possible it was a PPS
that executed without any additional files. I'm not if
that's what it was or even how to make a pps file.
