My website has been up for three years now. It was designed with 800X640
users in mind. Until just a few days ago, my stats package has always said
that this resolution was the most used by my visitors. Now the people who
visit my site the most are using the 1024X....resolution. I used another
monitor to view my website in 1024X...resolution, and it looked bad. How can
I design my page, or what code can I add to the homepage to make everything
appear in the center of the screen and more appealing for users with
1024X...screen resolution?

I think I only need to worry about the main homepage because the other pages
are all text related.

I just checked it both ways and thought it looked fine.!!
However, you could set the table width to 100% instead
of a fixed width and it will auto adjust to the browser setting.

Does your stats package measure Screen Resolution, or Browser Window Size?
Many users with high resolution screens will only have their browser opened
in a smaller window. Personally, I find sites designed for 1024 (or
greater) width a pain to use, especially with modern browsers which have
sidebars opened. (My screen res. is 1280x1024)

Agree
IMHO -
All that new screen real estate is not used for just the browser but for other app windows (IM, etc)
And many studies have shown that users have a difficult time reading "screen" pages that are spread out with text spread out wider
than ~ what would be an 8-1/2 page (~ 600 px wide)
Plus don't forget "some" (more like many) users still print pages and don't know how to do it in landscape!
