Make Folder 'Share' Icon disappear.

[Win XP Pro (SP2), FAT32]

Is it possible to via Registry, etc., to remove or mask the
'Share' portion of a shared-folder icon without affecting its
share status'?

That is, can folder 'X' on my DeskTop be made to "appear" as an
'ordinary' folder only, 'tough it should remain accessible at
the 2nd computer over the LAN?

Can shared folder 'X' on the 2nd computer also be made to appear
as an 'ordinary' (non-shared) folder only?

If you use a $ at the end of the share name, the folder will not appear when
browsing from a remote computer. However, the remote computer can still
connect to it by specifying the share name - \\ComputerName\Sharename$.
This does not remove the sharing hand under the folder when viewed through
Explorer on the machine upon which the share resides:

Thank you very much for that Mr. Sherman. I knew this was going to be an
offbeat query. That's a very handy little bit of info there but I won't give
this a "YES" yet
'til I also download and digest that MS article and see if I can tailor
things to my needs. Would still like to somehow make that "hand" vanish. Let
you know.

Thank you very much again for this great little revelation. Should come in
very handy.
