Make file dialogs display details and by date

(WIN XP Pro) How can I make file lists appear in details view and with the
files sorted by date (most recent at the top of the list) as the default.
For example, when attaching a file to an e-mail or opening a document in
Word, I want to see the details view and the files arranged by Date
Modified. I cannot find any way to create this as the default.

Because there is no such way. You have to re-customize each dialog
box.
