make cells visible

Hi Guys,
I need to ask you in FP how I could make all my cells visible and to assign color?
Thanks!

Not sure what you mean exactly by visible. They should have a very tiny
border around them by default. If you want more of a border to show, then
you'll have to adjust the table properties and increase the border size,
though most people don't do this because they feel they look ugly.

To assign a background color to a cell, you need to right click somewhere in
the cell to bring up the contect menu then click the cell properties option.
You may or may not see the background color option though depending upon
your target browser. Under Tools | Page Options | Compatibility (in previous
FP versions) or Tools | Page Options | Authoring (under FP 2003) make sure
that the browser type is set to IE only or custom. FP will disable this
feature if Navigator is enabled as a browser option since not all Netscape
Navigator versions support background table cell colors.

Hope this helps,

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your suggestion BUT I mean make all cells lines visible in Preview and in
Browser. I also mean cell lines color and not the cell background area. Sorry - but now
we got it clear-up. Please help me; Thanks!

Hi Tom,
I know how to insert table: Mark with cursor where table being inserted: Table menu >
Insert > Table (type-in require choice) > OK to execute. Then I can Insert Cell within
the Table, etc. BUT these are barely visible Table in Normal view and become invisible
in Preview view. I want them being visible - how can I do it? Thanks!

Set the table border properties to what you want and pick a color for the
borders.

Ok, now I got it. To get the cells visible you'll need to actually edit the
Table properties and set a border size. The size will be in pixels so a 1 is
a one pixel border all around the table and between each cell. If you have
the cellpadding and cellspacing set to something other than zero, this
border will appear larger.

While you are editing the table properties, you should see a color option
somewhere in the border section. This will change the color of the border
and thus, the lines between cells as well. If you can't find a color
property for the border, you can actually edit the HTML fairly easily by
adding a property called bordercolor, then setting it to be some color like
so:

Normal table <table border="1">

with border color <table border="1" bordercolor="red">

Hi Mark,
I really don't know how you edit the Table Properties BUT I did this way: Select or
High-lighted (black color appears) the required barely visible Table in Normal View >
right click the black area and choose Table Properties > Border size = 4 > check mark
for Show both Cells & Table Borders > Apply > OK. BUT nothing were change and Table is
NOT VISIBLE.

If successful - I'll tackle for table color later BUT Light & Dark Borders are all set
in Black color.

I can also find Table Properties in Table Menu. Please show me your correct way.
Thanks!

As both Mark and Tom have explained, giving your table *borders* will display
want you want, and assigning border width and border color under Table
Properties will effect how it appears.

Yes, you're right! BUT can you also show me HOW as if I'm the ONLY one here showing how
I did. Those words liked 'set' and 'edit' used to explained the long procedure is not
clear and confusing as to where to start, etc. Just read all our post from the
beginning before commenting. Give me your direct procedure if possible.
Thanks!

Yes Tom, I always referred it before I asked here. BUT don't worry now I found the
culprit. I cannot set to 4 for my Border size. The maximum is ONLY 3. Try it to believe
it. Thanks for all the help! All The Best And Happy 4th of July!

Don't know why you can't set a border of 4
- unless you typed it w/ a space in it
Use the scrollbar to increase the size to anything
Also turn off Collapse Table border
