How can I make the calendar appear at system start up? I was able to do this
under Microsoft Works but can't seem to find any references to such a
function in Outlook. Maybe I don't know the magic terminology/lingo!

Make a shortcut to Outlook.exe in your startup folder, then go into
Tools->options->other->advanced (in Outlook) and make the calendar folder
the startup folder.
