Make a Network out of a Router?

I was told this could be done just the person that told
me didn't know how to do it? It is possible to turn a
Router into a network (i.e. Printer Sharing/File Sharing)
or not? and if it is can you share the information on how
to do it? I would be very grateful!!

Tom,

many WAN (Wide Area Network) routers (DSL and cable routers)
contain a workgroup switch, so you can plug your computers
directly into the router.

Of course, if you have a router with only one local area
connector, you can attach a separate switch to it to the same
effect.
