I want to make a little icon in the start/All Programs list, but I
don't know how to do it.

What I have is too many programs listed, and I am getting a 4th column
with programs listed now that I can't see (and can't figure out how
to access the 4th column) because I run at 800 x 600 (I like it - I
don't want to change to 1024 x 768).

So I want to make a few "main" icons that I can then drag over related
programs into and launch them from that main icon - like I have 5
editing programs, so I want them all listed inside an icon called
"editors".

OK - how do I do this?

Right click Start and choose Open and repeat choosing Open All Users. These two structures are combined to form the Start Menu. A folder is a sub menu. One is items personal to the current user and All Users is items that appear on all user's Start Menus.

If you look in Start - Control Panel - Taskbar And Start Menu - Start Menu - Customise - Advanced - you can click Scroll Programs which give one scrolling list rather than multi column. PS You can also get there by right clicking Start then Properties.

Thanks very much it does just what I wanted to do.

But I just now went back and read what you wrote - I did not do it by
choosing "open all users", but just by choosing "open".

I notice that there is a slight difference in folders and shortcuts
using "open" vs "open all users". I am the only user of this computer
so I don't think it makes a difference.
