Hello,

When I went to eject a CD and touched the eject button I discharged a small electrostatic charge to the machine. It instantly shut down and will not restart. The machine will power up but will not connect with any device. No monitor, keyboard or mouse.

Rebooting the computer with the restoration disk does not work.

The system is a Pentium 4, 2.4 Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 2x80 GB HDD running XP home SP1.

I realize that it could be damage to the BIOS or the mainboard or that XP got corrupted by the shock but without being able to access the system I don't know where to start to repair the problem. Any and all comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Marian

I would unhook everything from the motherboad and then plug each device back
in one at a time then turn on the PC and see what happens. Then you can see
by process of elimination of what could possibly be your problem. I think it
might be your motherboard but its worth a shot.

Thanks
