I am using an XP machine, P2 500MHz. It has a 6 month old hard drive.
The problem i am having is that when ever you play any audio from any
source, tried windows sounds, and two cd drives, it makes crakling and
extra noises whenever it reads from the hard drive. I tried different
speakers, different sound card and nothing seems to work. Any ideas on
what it could be?

I had the same problem with SoundBlaster when i used the drivers on the SB
CD. When I removed them and let Windows XP: built in drivers handle it, the
crackling sounds dissapeared.
