muptiple things hang up - or don't work at al
Search, restore, and system information will not do anything - search tries to load but never does, restore is just a blank white box. Also unable to print anything from internet. Have tried to reinstall windows - but get a enternet 300 error - says that must shut down first
Please help -

Yes - xp home has been on the computer for about 8 months, and deteriorating latel
XP was upgraded from ME -
Help and support in windows doesn't work anymore either.

Did you scan pc for viruses? For Windows to start "degrading" like you are describing is not a common error. You either have a virus (or several) or it may actually be your hard drive that is getting worse. Is Windows the only thing that is affected? Any other programs not functioning?

Windows is the only program affected. No viruses - at least not according to the latest definitions by Norton.

You can try reinstalling xp. You won't lose any info. Just pop the xp disk in and click install. That will sometimes correct windows problems. I just did the same thing recently.

Did try re-installing xp earlier - received the enternet300 error. Just tried again - same result.
However, after having run Norton just before my last message, even though Norton reported no viruses, and absolutely nothing has changed - search and restore are now working. Could this "enternet300" error be the cause of all the problem?? Now that search works and Enternet does finally show up in the startup menu - do you know if it can be safely uninstalled so I can re-install xp?? I'm on dsl.

Not sure about that last question. Don't know what to tell ya. You can always back-up all your info, format your hard drive, and start over from scratch.
