Hello:
I have a major issue which popped up while I was working on BackupExec ver
10 with its Central Admin Server. Basically all my remote DC's were running
BackupExec and reported to a central BackupExec admin server. As part of my
maintenance I replaced my BackupExec server with a new one and ran
BackupExecs utility to have the servers report to the new Backup server.
Shortly after I did that users in my remote offices reported they could not
print. When I checked the servers they had 2 or 3 dozen event id 1000
Category None messages. They usually started with one like the following.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 9/26/2006
Time: 8:12:35 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: REMOTE_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER
Description:
Windows cannot connect to MYDOMAIN.LOCAL with (0x2747).
When on the server all name resolution seemed broken. I could ping to IP
addresses but if I tried to hit a UNC path like \\MY-SERVER the request
would time out and fail. I then found I if I stopped the BackupExec
services everything went back to normal. After the services are re-started
everything is fine for a while and then the problem happens again. I have
tried troubleshooting this with the BackupExec people but they have idea
what is causing this problem. My guess is running the BackupExec utility to
re-direct the server to a new management server screwed up something in my
AD but I am not sure.
Have anyone seen a similar problem or have any suggestions.
Thanks.
