Shortly after installing the Beta various applications
started acting oddly as if I had clicked on the wrong
link; then I noticed the mouse pointer behaving oddly,
jittering around; the mouse then slowed down along with
the application(s) I was using to glacial slowness. The
computer then froze and reboots brought the same problems
including, I noticed, that my AVG antivirus had been
mysteriously turned off. I went into DOS command mode and
the mouse still would not work. The only thing I could
do was shut down then backup the whole computer, through
DOS, using a Ghost backup. When I rebooted I removed the
beta and also Skype which I had loaded just previous to
the trouble and which I suspected, and ran the AVG anti-
virus. After a short while the problem came back. I
suspected the mouse and went out and bought a new one. I
then did the Ghost thing again and rebooted with the new
mouse. Everything went fine for two days. I reasoned
the problem must be Skype so I re-installed the Microsoft
Anti-Spyware Beta. After 30 mins the same things started
to happen again!!! I then had to remove the Beta yet
again, backup with Ghost, remove then add back the mouse,
run the anti-virus, then reboot. Thank goodness, it
worked again. Obviously there is a major conflict between
the the Beta, possibly AVG, and the mouse driver.
Phew!
