i was running a 9700pro rock solid. due to reasons in prev posts, i
have a friends 9800pro in my system (vga silencer will not fit with my
motherboard 'cause i installed a heatsink on my southbridge... seemed
like a goo didea 3 months ago LOL). i just had it boot to the
9800pro, winXP found it, i set it to the resolution i liked, etc. now
everytime i boot into windows it is 640*480 32bit color. i can run
3dmark2001se, 3dmark2k3, i can play games, and do pretty much anything
i want. it just boots to 640*480 and it is really annoying. i have
uninstalled and reinstalled the cat3.10 drivers...nogo, manually tried
to hack out the inf files and un/reinstalled them...nogo, ran driver
cleaner in windows and safe mode... nogo, also ran windoc and
easycleaner... nogo does anybody have any other ideas? thanx in
advance.

You tried the Cat uninstaller?

What about firing up a command prompt and typing:

Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Devmgmt.msc

Then in the Device Manager Window that pops up, going to view hidden
devices. The greyed out devices don't exist, so make sure you remove the
ones from the Video Card and Monitor Sections. (there are other greyed out
devices that are required, especially in the Audio section, so unless you
know what you're doing, leave everything else alone)

I'd probably do both of those without rebooting, then reboot and then
reinstall the Cats and reboot again.
