I've set up a database (in Access 2003) and implemented
various levels of security for different users. This
works fine on the PC it was set up on, but I want to send
the completed database to a remote PC. When I try this
all security settings are lost.

How do I set up the security so that it is active
whichever PC the file is opened from?

Thanks in advance!

If the other PC has full access to the file, then you did something wrong.
You need to read and reread the security white pages.

Anyone without your secured mdw file should not be able to open your
database. If they try, they should get an error stating that the mdw file
is mising and is needed to open your application.

Sounds like under your current settings, anyone who uses the Microsoft
Workgroup Administrator (including your PC) and joins the default workgroup
that comes with MS Access would have full access to the file.
