I have pictures on my cameras memory card that were taken on a specific date, but when I copy them to my hard drive, or make copies of pictures on my hard drive the 'created' date changes to the date the copy was made.

How do I maintain the original 'taken on' date even through copies or downloads from the card.

Thanks,

JHP...

The "date created" is the date the file was created on your computer.
To see the "date picture taken" you can do three things.
Place you mouse cursor over the thumbnail or file name. A textbox will open
and Date picture taken will be listed. If not listed, click on Start, click
on Run and type the following in the opening textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...

Or, Right click on the photo, Properties and click on the Picture tab.
Or, use the Details view for your folder. Right click on the column header
(Name, size) and click on More on the opening menu. Scroll down and check
the box "Date picture taken". This will add this column in the view.
