maintaining format after pasting a template

is there a way to maintain formatting of a template when pasting from another
template?

e.g. if template 1 is blue and template 2 is green, if i go to paste the
contents from template 1 to template 2, the blue color is not transferring in
the paste. how can i keep the format of template 1 when pasting into
template 2?

When you paste you should see a "paste options" button (looks like a mini
clipboard) this will allow you to "keep source format" or not.

If it's not there it will help if you tell us which version you use.

doesn't seem to work (using xp 2000)...is there a way to do this with this
version?

Not sure what you mean by xp 2000 but if you have PowerPoint 2000 then no it
won't work as there can only be one master template in this version.

I have PPT 2007. I do not have the paste clipboard, but do not have the
option to hold format. Where else can it be found?
