Main page blocked something about core-project

I have had both default.htm and index.htm on my site for years. Recently the
people who host my server have altered the index.htm and saved it as
index.htm.back so when viewed in the
browser it says core-project and does not come up as broken as it has a
script and 404 text on the page i.e. I would not know from my stats that it
was not working.
.. If I overwrite it, all my main entry pages have core-project on them.
although the rest of my web site works o.k.
I cannot contact my hosts and wondered what I should do.
My traffic has gone to less than half the usual.

Can anyone help, or tell me the best thing to do.

If you are unable to contact your host, you do not have a very good host, do
you?
I would recommend getting a new one.

Why can't you contact your hosts? Who are they?

Do you have fpse (frontpage server extensions ) on the server?

What version of fp are you using?

What is your site?

Thomas,

Do you have any info on the exploit that is being used to do this? I
now know of three sites at one hosting company that has been hit by
these idiots. The hosting company is being pretty useless.

I believe that it is something to do with FPSE but not much more. Can
you point me at the security bulletin that refers to it.

Regards,
Neil Weller

I just did a search for "core-project" on the internet at the time I posted my original reply.
