Both my main and backup computer simultaneously developed a problem when
trying to run Mailwasher.
The Mailwasher freeware program starts and runs normally for about 30
seconds listing messages that were found in the various mail; boxes site and
then
halts as a blue Win98 error screen appears indicating that a "fatal
exception has occurred at 002B:C02A27A8 ... etc."
I re-loaded the program from the original download file but get the same
error.

It appears to me that the program was designed to self-destruct on or about
December 23, 2003. A morbid Christmas present perhaps???

Has anyone else experienced this problem??

No problems here with version 2.0.40 beta.

Are you using the latest version?

You probably downloaded the trial version of Pro.
Try this download:

I have had some stability problems with the latest free Mailwasher using
98SE, after enquiring here I got access to older versions, which seem
better

Can't find the site I used, which has a collection of versions, but a
google threw up some other possibilities for download

Sounds like a problem I had about a month ago. I don't know if this has any
relevance to your problem, but I'll tell you what happened in my case.

Mailwasher 2.0.28 on Win98se, working fine, then one day it blue-screened
during the mail check of several mailboxes. Reboot, clean up, try again, same
thing. I then launched MW and instead of doing the default mail check, I had
it check one mailbox at a time. No blue-screens until it tried to check one
particular hotmail account. I logged into that hotmail account and deleted a
few unsolicited msgs, and thereafter MW ran fine. Evidently, it was something
wrong in one particular email, but I didn't bother trying to figure out why or
what it was. I haven't had any repeat trouble.

Not here. I'm on win98se also. As a former programer, I think it is
not likely that the program authors would choose to abort program
execution by causing a fatal exception. There are a lot easier and
more reliable ways to exit a program.

There is NO download PRO !!!!
The difference between the Pro and the other is the serial number ....

If anyone have it it can perhaps be sent in this NG ?? (version 2.0.40
Beta)

Version 2.0.40 Beta. No problems but I find that software of a very low
utility, I still get more than 170 spams everydays, those idiots-mads change
their id everydays.
It is really time to make a law for these spammer be caught and paid for the
extra expenses we get.
Or make the email NOT FREE, like the post office, say 5 US$ by email. So
perhaps they will use the NewsGroups that disturb no one.

The best version for me was and is 1.33 - for several accounts no problems
ever on Windows ME and XP.
